Setting:
Chase Young lives on present day Earth in a universe where the forces of good and evil still try to surpss each other. Magical artifacts called Shen Gong Wu are scattered all over the planet and there are many ancient or evil locations all over such as the Xioalin Temple and Chase Young's lair, as well as the Land of Nowhere.

History:
1500 years before the start of the series, Chase Young was a Xiaolin monk aspiring to one day become a Xiaolin Dragon. He fought alongside fellow monks Master Dashi and Master Monk Guan against the evil of the Heylin side, most notably to defeat the Heylin witch, Wuya, who was sealed away by Dashi. However, Chase was tempted away from the Xiaolin path by Hannibal Bean, the world's most prominent evil.

Bean tricked him into believing that Monk Guan was a threat to his destiny to become the greatest Tai Chi master of all time, and that he could only realize that destiny by turning to the Heylin side. He offered Chase a soup that would grant him immortality and increase his powers in exchange for his soul, knowing that Chase's pride was his greatest weakness. In the end, Chase drank the soup and became evil, first attacking the temple, and then betraying Bean by sealing him in the Yin-Yang World.

During the 1500 years following, he traveled the world and mastered his martial arts skills and learned Heylin magics. He challenged many strong warriors and enslaved them as his jungle cat army whenever he won. He created his evil lair and became master of the Land of Nowhere. He stayed largely secluded but apparently kept track of the changes in the world, including some advances in technology. Some of these were incorporated into his lair, such as the ceiling which depicts a night or day sky with the press of a button. And he created a stockpile of the soup that turned him, due to him needing to continue drinking it. As such he has likely killed countless dragons over the centuries.

Chase first appears in season two, episode eleven, of the series. Having defeated his former friend, Master Monk Guan, at an earlier point in time and claimed his Staff of Guan as the prize, Chase had offered Guan a chance to earn it back in exchange for the dragon at the Xiaolin temple. He needed a dragon for the soup that gave him his eternal youth, and Dojo was the perfect choice at the time. He upheld his promise when Dojo was brought to him, not telling the dragon why he was there but making sure he was more than well-fed.

At this time he also decided the time was right to see the xiaolin dragon apprentices he had heard so much about and sought them out when they went after the Monsoon Sandals. He also met evil boy genius Jack Spicer, who immediately tried to make an alliance with him. But Chase had no interest in that since he had little use for Shen Gong Wu in general, seeing them as a crutch for true power. The apprentices also turned up later to try and fight for Dojo's freedom, as did Monk Guan to fight for them all. Chase accepted the challenge and lost, but while he could have still gained the upper hand against them he chose to honor his word and allow them to leave.

Jack later returns to him, still wanting an alliance and so Chase said he'd consider it if Jack brought him something of value. Jack brought him a bag of Shen Gong Wu and the xiaolin apprentice, Clay, who had been possessed by a mischievous spirit called Zabini, who Chase was apparently familiar with. Chase rejected Jack, but sought out the apprentice, Omi, because he had seen much potential in him and wanted to bring him over to the Heylin side. But his purpose this visit was to teach Omi what he would need to defeat Zabini, as well as to observe him during the battle. After this he began to plot his world domination and turning Omi evil.

When he finally reappears, it was to enlist Jack for a plan using the Monkey Staff and the Tongue of Saiping. It being the Year of the Green Monkey, he had Jack use both Wu to raid the xiaolin temple, not telling him he was only a diversion or warning him of the risk of using the Monkey Staff indefinitely during this time time. He needed the apprentices occupied long enough to get to the Eagle Scope, needing to keep it out of their hands because if used with their recently acquired Fountain of Wui, the apprentices could learn how to permanently destroy evil. He was able to retrieve the Eagle Scope, and the Heylin witch, Wuya, began to accompany him.

As he continued to formulate his plans, Wuya's presence frustrated him because her only concern was collecting Wu. Though Chase ignored several, he did go after the Wushan Geyser as an excuse to further test Omi. His test was interrupted by Jack and Cyclops though, with Jack trapping Chase inside the Sphere of Yun and gaining control of his jungle cats as a result. While Chase seemed unable to escape, he wasn't concerned, knowing that Omi would free him out of obligation and wanting to stop Jack.

His prediction was true, and Chase tried to tempt Omi to the Heylin side by pointing out that his stated reason for saving him was a white lie, which was what evil was essentially all about. When the other apprentices appeared on the scene, Chase lied for Omi so they wouldn't know Omi had come to free him and not to face Jack alone, challenging him to a Xiaolin Showdown which he lost...quite possibly on purpose. He then allowed them to leave.

As a further means to test Omi, Chase offered both Jack and Katnappa a shot at an apprenticeship under him. Katnappa won, but Jack later somewhat earned his respect instead. Though it was mostly a front pitting Omi against the deceitful so he would learn to double-cross, which he did. Later, he took Omi friend Jermaine as his pupil, not letting the boy know he was evil, for the purpose of using him to test Omi further. As he expected, Omi prevailed again.

When Jack unleashed countless spiders on the world by accident, Chase was forced to team up with him and the apprentices to save the world because the forces of evil couldn't rule a world that was destroyed. They failed to get the Wu that could erased Jack's mistake, courtesy of Jack, and Chase and Omi had to escape using the Golden Tiger Claws. Chase decided their final change was in the Fountain of Wui and Eagle Scope, but before Omi was allowed to use them Chase made him give his word as a xiaolin monk not to search for the way to destroy evil, He knew the temptation would be too great for Omi though, so he used the Reversing Mirror unbeknownst to Omi so what the apprentice saw was how to destroy good forever. Once they had their solution, they rescued Jack and the others and flooded the spider nest with lava. Jack stole the Tiger Claws and abandoned them, but Omi saved them with the Black Beetle. After, Chase reassured him that their alliance was only in that moment and left.

Personality:
Chase is shown to be one of the most formidable villains in his canon, more because of his personality than the fact that he is very powerful. He's extremely intelligent, almost always composed, cunning, persistent, ruthless, somewhat merciless, confident in his abilities, and is selective with details he divulges. He picks his alliances carefully, leaving little to no room for himself to be effectively betrayed, even though his "allies" are only a means to an end more often than not. He likes to know both his enemies and potential allies and keeps tabs on both, making it hard to surprise or deceive him.

Chase is a very prideful character and relies mostly on his own abilities, with some aid from what he has won himself. In canon he rarely uses Shen Gong Wu because he sees them as a crutch and not the path to real power. Any that he does use are not for combat and used with a specific goal in mind. He often holds others to similar standards, respecting those who have a skill they've honed over those who use shortcuts. He is picky about his allies and most are only pawns who know little to none of his plans, and that are easily cast aside when he has no use for them...or are to be used with no regard for what may happen to them period. He has a lot of disdain for incompetents, whether they have a lot of potential and fail more than succeed or are just failures, not based on their strengths or weaknesses but on their performance. Someone can be weaker than him but still have a measure a his respect, or be formidable but have little to none.Beings of high potentual that also perform well are even likely to be someone he doesn't betray and works to allying himself with.

Almost unbelievably patient, Chase is not about big and flashy or rash actions when it comes to his plans. He will think out things as far ahead as possible, taking his time, and waiting for the opportune moment to act. He is usually subtle, and has a contingency plan ready when possible in case something in the initial plan goes awry. He has impressive control over his emotions and this lets him easily deceive others, as well as to not lose his head in a tight situation. Even his fighting style is fairly precise, with no more effort than what he needs to do anything and very little room for lesser opponents to harm him at all.

When greatly angered, or just when willing, Chase will revert to his lizard form. While the personality in mostly the same, especially when he's calm, the transformation does comes with a few mental changes. He's somewhat feral in this form, becoming more brutal, more rash, and less patient and thought out. His temper is less controlled and he is more likely to act on reflex.

An unusual trait Chase has for a prominent evil is a sense of honor in which he will keep his word when he promises something, or will hold another to their word when they give it...however, him saying that he will or won't do something is not the same as him giving his word. To avoid betrayal, it's best to actually have his word, because his pride and sense of honor won't let him go back on it. Fully confident in his abilities, Chase is rarely intimidated even when acknowledging anything as a threat to him. He rarely underestimates his opponents, but does at times and can admit when he has done so. Him running from or being concerned about anything is just him being appropriately cautious and aware of any risks. His confidence has also led to his development past the point where he needs to seek out others to test his strength against just to prove he's strong. He will accept challenges but only initiates them as part of a greater plan.

It's no secret that Chase is fond of cats, given the fact that those in service to him are transformed into various jungle cats. But he does treat them well, as shown by the fact that he gives them the occasional affection and they seem content enough with him to not only obey without hesitation, but also seek out his attention unbidden. He is usually accompanied by a tiger or six, so they seem to be his favorites, and at least one of those is usually in easy petting range.

Abilities:
First and foremost, Chase is acknowledged as one of the world's most powerful Tai Chi masters. His martial arts techniques are his most heavily relied on ability and combined with his superhuman speed, endurance, and strength make him almost impossible to defeat one-on-one and still extremely challenging against multiple opponents.

Having mastered martial arts, Chase is very limber and has an amazing amount of body control and balance. He has honed his tiger instincts to the point he can easily dodge, block, or deflects most attacks without even needing to see them, and is good at reading his opponents to guess their next move.

Heylin Sorcery:
Chase's least used abilities, he has mastered several types of magic since trading his soul for evil. Even though he was never seen mastering an element, he's been seen to manipulate the elemental attacks of opponents with no trouble. He was also able to transform a fire attack into a memory recall spell to replay a recent event. He is also able to conjure a smoke-like illusion to illustrate things that he is explaining. And by conjuring a large Heylin eye/looking pedestal he can not only spy on an area he has gained control over, he can manipulate that environment directly and transport himself and others to that place instantly.

He can transform defeated opponents into animals, most often various big cats, which can be controlled simply by snapping his fingers for various purposes including to become human again. This is because he has control over their chi.

Dragon Transformation:
Not actually a dragon, Chase has the ability to turn into a slightly humanoid lizard form. The transformation can be willing, or the result of a loss of temper. Without his Lao Mang Lone Soup, which he has to have regularly, he would eventually transform and be unable to become human again.

In this form, he's a more powerful opponent, stronger and faster, with the addition of sharp claws and teeth along with a tail that he can use offensively. He still relies on his martial arts, but less on technique and more on simply overpowering his opponents. He's also shown he can still use some of his Heylin magic.

The drawback to this form seems to be a slight decrease in his intelligence and so less rational thought. These faults, while seemingly minor in comparison to the pros of transforming, actually make him easier to defeat in a sense than when he's human.
